You will be happy to know that both the Fort Wilderness Resort and the Wilderness Lodge Resort are connected by both water taxi boats as well as a walking path. The walk is about a mile but well worth taking. When we stay at the Fort I try to walk every day and my favorite place is that path. There has never been a day that I did not see some of the resident deer and often turkeys. Sometimes you have to know where to look but they love that area so be sure and bring your camera.

To find the walking path at the Wilderness Lodge head out to the bus depot area where you would catch the park buses. Keep walking past them and you will see a sidewalk. That sidewalk will continue to the paved path. You will come out just across from the main Disney stables in Fort Wilderness.

Pioneer Hall is right next to that. Be sure and have time to visit these stables as there is a small museum inside. Cinderella's ponies can be found outside too.

Please note that this path is NOT lighted so it is not recommended that you would take this at night. If you need to get between the two resorts after dark you can head to the marina next to Pioneer Hall and hop on the water launch that connects the Fort to the Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary Resort. Personally, I wish Disney connected more of its resorts via pedestrian paths. I realize this is an older post, however I am interested in knowing where the path is?

I think having a safe route from Coronado to All-Stars is awesome. At least when taking a day to explore the different resorts I can actually see four resorts by foot. I like taking some time to see the different resorts. Perhaps it will show on google walking maps when I am there, but if there is an actual link to that walking path I am would be interested in seeing this prior to travel..

I think that Disney World is the most car or Disney Transit needed place among their theme parks around the world.

Great article! One of the things that has really surprised me about Disney World has been a lack of walking — or cycling — options. Really useful article thank you and surprising that there are not more walkways. Any other loops to jog round aside from Wilderness Resort as described above? I too am surprised at how walker unfriendly Disney World is. When I stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge several years ago I ended up doing my running on the grass at the side of the road.

There simply were no paths. I tried it the day before the race and it turned out to be a long way and not very practical to walk. On our last trip, we learned the hard way that there is no path from the Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian.

There is a lighted path that takes you quite a ways, then ends abruptly with a cul-de-sac. I take it there was originally a plan to connect the two that was scrapped. Looking at online maps, it appears there is a service road across the canal where the path should continue. It also looks like they never built or maybe removed? Pity that. I guess the shuttle boats will still work fine.

There is definitely a service road connecting the 2. There indeed is a very nice path to nowhere from Magic Kingdom in the direction of the Grand Floridian, and it ends abruptly at the canal. In fact, on resort maps, it was promoted as a jogging route. Has that been eliminated with the Poly construction? No, that path is open. We are walkers by nature and we love to walk wherever we go. Not only do we like the exercise, but we feel that it gives us control over what we are doing and where and when we are going.

For this reason, we stay at the Epcot Resorts: not because we insist on a deluxe hotel, but because for us, the added expense is worth the ability to be able to walk to two different parks.

Our last stay was at Saratoga Springs and we found our initial room assignment was not actually walkable from the main building. The route they gave us took us along a road with no sidewalk where buses flew past at alarming speed.

It was terrifying. Lesson: If you are a walker, make it very clear at check in and ask to have the lighted, off-road path to your room highlighted to be sure there is one. Have bonus fun by jumping the wake when the big boats go by.

Share your photos widely and start new rumors. Magic Kingdom Your easiest route is to take a boat green flag from the Fort Wilderness marina. These start running 30 minutes prior to MK opening including Extra Magic Hours , and stop running about 1. Boats come every minutes, and travel time is 13 minutes one-way.

Alternatively, walk the one mile to Wilderness Lodge and take the red flag boat launch directly to the Magic Kingdom. Travel time is 8 minutes one-way.

You can also drive your car to the Ticket and Transportation Center, and board a monorail or boat there. If you have advanced dining reservations at the Contemporary, you can drive and park at the Contemporary Resort parking lot at no charge.

A third option is to walk or boat to Wilderness Lodge, board a bus to the Magic Kingdom, followed by a resort monorail ride or boat ride gold flag. Almost as easy, but a little longer is taking a boat from Fort Wilderness marina green flag to the Magic Kingdom, and then getting on the resort monorail. If you have advanced dining reservations at the Polynesian, you can drive and park at the Polynesian Village parking lot at no charge.
